Week 21:

“Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.” —C.S. Lewis

I recently posted that quote on Instagram. It really resonated with me as I’m on this photographic journey. And, it’s helped me feel better about this project, which I’ve come to feel like it’s just some sort of weekly online scrapbook of Cole. Although I’m grateful to be photographing him regularly and the benefits that come from that, I’m starting to rethink my vision for this project. I want to be more intentional when I photograph and not just when Cole is doing something cute. Either way, I am happy to be picking up my camera besides commissioned work. I’m happy that I will begin to see and sort what speaks to me. I’m happy to visibly see growth and change. And, I’ll be really grateful, whatever the purpose, to have these images years from now.

As for the week, it was kicked off by celebrating Cole’s grandma, Susan’s birthday. We went over and had a breakfast party. She is such a loving, giving, and sweet grandma and Cole and I are so lucky to have her in our lives.

And the rest of the images are our usual. :)

“Hold me!” I have to admit this image makes me laugh. It’s amazing how quickly one toddler can become so desperate. And, I’ve noticed that 9 times out of 10 this only happens when I’m making breakfast.
